Luis is a Portuguese tenor based in London where he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2012. He is also a Samling Artist and a Solti Academia Scholar and was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artist 2013-2015. He studies under Rudolf Piernay.
Gomes is in great demand for Opera, Concert and Recital all around Europe being described as a “star in the making” “destined for a glittering future”. His singing was described by the Times as “idiomatic, intelligent and expressive” with a “thrilling top register”, wrote the Guardian.
Opera highlights include Azael (L’enfant prodigue) for Scottish Opera, Edmondo (Manon Lescaut), Fenton (Falstaff) and Chevalier de la Force (Les dialogues des Carmelites) for the Royal Opera House, Osburgo (La Straniera) at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Nemorino (Elisir d’amore) for Teatro Verdi Trieste, Tebaldo (I Capuleti e I Montecchi) for Buxton Festival and Rodolfo (La Boheme) for the Verbier Festival Academy, for which he was awarded the Grand Prix of 2015. Luis also appeared at the ROH in La Traviata, Il Tritico, Parsifal, Turandot, Rigoletto and Il Turco in Iitalia.
Concert includes Wigmore Hall Rosenblatt recitals, the last alongside Ekaterina Siurina, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle at the DeDoelen Rotterdam and in Rome under Antonio Pappano.
Future performances comprises a Samling Gala Concert at the SagegatesheadNewcastle and Rodolfo (La Boheme) for Scottish Opera.
