At home in both classical and contemporary repertoire, Sylvia O’Brien has impressed audiences in opera, oratorio and chamber music. She is a regular guest with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra and the Orchestra of St.Cecilia and has performed with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the German NDR and the Dutch Magogo Chamber Orchestra. Recent performances include Vivier’s Lonely Child with the NSO (New Music Festival) Raymond Deane’s Passage Work with the Crash Ensemble of Ireland, Siete Canciones Populares by De Falla as part of the White Crow Music Festival, The Netherlands, Things We Throw Away-Brian Irvine September 2014. Upcoming engagements for 2015 include lunchtime concert with the NSO, Pierrot Lunaire (May,) Siberia String quartet No 5 (September) Westport Festival of Chamber Music (September), and Ancient Voices by George Crumb (August).
