Ailish Tynan

Bphotoorn and raised in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ailish Tynan trained at Trinity College, Dublin; the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin; and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. She was a Vilar Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and a BBC New Generation Artist. In 2003, representing Ireland, Ailish won the Rosenblatt Recital Prize at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. Her recent engagements include Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel and Madame Cortese in Il Viaggio a Reims at the Royal Opera House, London; Die Zauberflöte at La Scala; Despina in Così Fan Tutte at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse; Héro in Béatrice et Bénédict for Houston Grand Opera, the Mahler Symphony No.8 with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra under Paavo Järvi; Mahler Symphony No.4 with the Hallé under Sir Mark Elder and, at the BBC Proms, Bella in Tippett’s A Midsummer Marriage with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Sir Andrew Davis.
